Hi All,
I'm trying to create a digital asset, but I have an imported obj file. How do I make the obj file an internal geometry so I can save it in the asset file. That way the assets are easier to use.
Thanks in advance
Joe

I thought it worked, I was able to get the geometry to save in the asset easy enough. My issue is now that none of the texturing is going with it. There UV maps that I link in the procedural shader. I tried to bring the jpg file in as images but I get the same issue. I tried to glean as much information from tutorials as I could but I'm really falling up short. I'm sure its something simple.
Basically I want to do:
Bring image file in for my UV textures on my model.
Set up my materials using the images.
Link the material to the correct UV mapped areas on my model.
Then create an assets that I can import in at anytime and use.
Everything works fine if I direct the material to the picture on my hard drive. Once I start mapping in images from inside Houdini. and use the op
syntax) It works OK that way. As soon as I go to save the assets I still get the reference is outside of the network. I think if I could turn the images I brought in to the IMG area to catch in the project and not need the hard drive file I would be golden.
Anyone know of any tutorials that covers this. Most of them do not add images from Houdini to material color files for the textures.
Hair was going to be my next challenge after I get my figure set up as something reusable.
Thanks again, sorry to bother you.

for textures, you have to embedd them in your HDA using Extra Files section and reference using opdef: syntax in your shaders within the HDA
https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/ref/windows/optype.html#extra_files [www.sidefx.com]
https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/assets/opdef.html [www.sidefx.com]
you can have a look at one of the test geometry HDAs and how they are set up, for example Test Geometry Pighead SOP
