Blurry texture - Karma/MaterialX image filter type

Hi,

So whilst experimenting with karma cpu and karma xpu, I stumbled upon a texture issue. It might be something that I miss or overlook, but somehow I cannot find a way to disable image filtering (filter type).

I exported the uv_grey.pic to a .png file, which is really tight, like every edge of the grid is exactly on a pixel, really sharp. But due to texture filtering it results in a very blurry texture when rendering with karma.

Does someone know how to fix this? I already tried changing the renderer to cpu and xpu, and changing the filter type from linear to cubic and closest, as those were the other options I found, but with no luck.

Thanks,
Chris

Changing the filter type to closest works for me. Maybe try updating your Houdini build. Judging from the interface differences on the Mtlx Image node, it looks like you're using an older version.

So, indeed the changing filtering from linear to closest does work, but only on karma CPU.

Actually looking at the two pictures attached to this post you can see the cpu texture being really high detail and the xpu actually getting more and more blurry along the distance.
I understand this could be, or very possibly is because of the alpha stage, but does anyone know a workaround?

I know changing the resolution value of this; KARMA_XPU_MAX_TEXTURE_RES, but this does not affect the blurriness of textures in general with XPU compared to CPU.

Anisotropic filtering will be added to XPU eventually.
