It's not viewport based - it's based on the current session. You can click on the plus button in the playbar, option is there.

JC, djorzgul is asking for the OGL frame rate display in the viewport rather than the FPS setting.

djorzgul, that feature is not available in Houdini.

Cheers!

You can see your playback speed by opening Settings->Performance Monitor.
Under Monitor section toggle all off except Frame Time and check Enable Output. Press play.. you will see in Hz (frames/second) your speed.

The performance monitor does add a speed drop; for displaying ‘frame time’ it should be minimal though. To further decrease it's hit try using the Batch button. Press it and press right arrow key 5 frames. It will accumulate the data and show you the result.

FYI, if you press Batch in the Performance Monitor, it's easier to just hit Play and press Stop after it gives you the output.

sorry for confusion, I asked about the OGL frame rate display in the viewport,
so, performance monitor does the job…
it is a bit “big” frame rate shower

what puzzles me still is:
if I understood well the values in hz are in fact fps? they are around 52… but in animation options window FPS is 24 and maintain raltime playback is on… but this is like 2-3x faster then realtime???

thanks for help

Djorzgul,

The Ogl vieport framerate is different measurment ,and it represents the capability (and framerate) of your graphic card to refresh the drawing in viewport, which is always good to have in high numbers..(as you know in games,fps-s are sometimes
more than 200).
The other factor is playback speed which is representing the number of frames that Houdini plays the animation for you in one second, which is 24 for film and 25 for pal-Tv in most cases.
So these are different aspects…

Ciao Djole..
