I've been working on Houdini for 6 years now. And for production needs we are looking for the software on which we will make our future project.

We did a lot of testing on solaris and karma.

We feel the potential of the tool but unfortunately we have a lot of crashes and visualization bugs.

Most of the crashes don't give me an error message, my Houdini simply shuts down.

Often it's when you go from houdini GL to rendering, or when you decide to visualize the rop karma.

It's a shame because I would have liked to brag about having done an entire project on Houdini but I think it's too early for the moment

It always has been like that for me. I couldn't even follow the official tutorial without crashing. I reported several times to SideFX, but they couldn't help because they can't reproduce the crashes on their side. My only solution is just to avoid Solaris for any non-trivial stuff.
