Motion Blur on Instances With Solaris

Hi!

I have an asset called "trash" with multiple variants. This trash is instanced on the points from a particle sim:

As far as I am aware, RenderMan doesn't support motion blur on instances, so I'm thinking I might need to unpack the instanced geo and then use a trail node to add velocities to it or something.

However, when I go to unpack it with a sop modify, all the trash pieces just appear at the scene origin:

I don't have them instanced on the points here to get their proper velocities.

What's the best way to tackle what I want to accomplish?

Thanks so much for the help!
Anson

Is the instancer a point instancer or instanceable references? I wouldn't expect renderman to have trouble rendering motion blur for either. for a point instancer, the instance points just need velocities. For references, there need to be more than one time sample for motion blur to happen.

Hi! It's currently using the Instanceable Reference method, but the point instancer is similarly failing.

The rendergeometrysettings node has settings for Karma for instanced motion blur:

But there doesn't seem to be any corresponding parameter in the render man panel:

The points they are being instanced on have a `v` attribute.

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much for the help!
