Does anyone else have suggestions to add? For comparison, I’ve included some screenshots of C4D’s camera features below.
Could the next version improve the Solaris camera?

At the moment, the camera in Solaris is missing many useful features — for example, composition guides and auto-focus on a selected object. Camera animation support is also quite limited. It would be great to see features such as camera morphing and the ability to control a camera with multiple nulls, along with a simpler yet more powerful camera rigging system built directly into Solaris. These kinds of tools are extremely useful for everyday composition and animation work.

Always good to have new features. But Solaris camera do have autofocus selected objects.
Workaround for the guides could be to add a png with your wanted guides to the forground image on the camera.
I would like the post scale from Maya to be read by the Solaris camera, so I don't have to run a python script to tweak the focal length. But probably a USD issue. As Maya only export it with Alembic

The Camera LOP does not provide the level of built in functionality we would like. You can of course write expressions to calculate values like the distance to a prim. But for such a common requirement, we shouldn't be requiring users to write python expressions. Thank you for this and the other suggestions here. Can't make any promises, but we do know this is an area where we need to improve.
