sane way to find where a warning message is coming from?

when i load an HDA of mine it now gives this warning :

<stdin>:6: SyntaxWarning: invalid escape sequence '\.'

it didn't in houdini 21 and i have no clue where that warning is coming from, but i'd like to address it (assuming the warning is my fault). i've tried exploring where it might be coming from but this HDA is a sea of other HDAs and has a gazillion input variables and thus i just can't find it. i commented out all the nodes in it and the error is still there so it's not coming from the nodes and must be coming from the input vars but i just can't see any scripts being run that might cause it and so it's driving me crazy.

is there a debug option you can turn on to have houdini change it's print functions so they're all prefixed with where they're coming from? like which script in which var in which node?

I would check the Log Viewer tab, warnings are written there and it might be easier to track the source nodes through that window.

ooh that's a great idea! sadly it it just says SOURCE=STANDARD ERROR and not where it's coming from.

i'll try this trick on other errors i'm having trouble tracking down

Set HOUDINI_PYTHONWARNINGS env variable to "error", so that it treats warnings as errors, and then your error will be visible on the python node hopefuly, i tested it with object level python node and it does show it as error on node-

Not very good at python, just searched for a python debugging option in the environment variable ref docs.
