Hi, there are 2 red objects with no depth, just height and width in the viewport upon launching Houdini. they are in all the viewports including perspective. They are large and I cant select them. What are they, please help. Thanks.

The dull red / pink colour is caused by missing images for your viewport. Hit D and check what the image path is or just uncheck the display option for the back ground

Hi, thanks for your reply. It didnt seem to work. Here is a capture to show what it looks like. It also moves as I rotate the viewport round. Also it has been there since first install.

Ah, this is your origin and viewport gnomons not being drawn correctly.

You can disable them by hitting “d” in the viewport, but the root of the problem is a video card/driver issue. Could you upgrade your video drivers and try again?

Hi thanks again for the reply. I updated my drivers and now the gui is not displaying everything. Is this a houdini apprentice thing. Should I rather be upgrading to the apprentice HD version?

It has nothing to do with the Apprentice version and everything to do with your graphics card/driver. I think you're using an integrated Intel graphics chipset right? If so, please check out this thread [sidefx.com].

If you're not using an integrated graphics chipset, please post more details on the card & driver version you're using.

Cheers!
