it is slower when I solved simulation with Fluid or others dynamic effect,
my machine is HPZ800,RAM 4g , CPU E5520,
I wonder CPUs maybe upgrade,is it?
I want to speed up dynamic simulation, can anybody give me some suggest about hardware
thanks
Speed up dynamic simulation?

zhaobinA 5520 is a pretty modern cpu (Intel just released the 5600 series, which includes the version that's 6-core instead of 4-core), but the 5520's about a year old. The ‘20’ portion can always stand improvement to faster clock rate, but if the system is designed for an ‘E’ chip, it may not handle the faster chips due to wattage requirements. The 5550's and above go to faster memory, which makes a big difference. Intel is pretty much king of cpu speed right now, especially with the new X5680 is pretty smokin', both in performance and in cost.

zhaobinCheaper and slower. AMD – when they found themselves consistently behind in the cpu speed race – diverted towards energy efficiency. But if it's speed you want (and you can afford), then Intel is it (and has been since ‘07). I don’t even bother looking at AMD these days.
thanks
can you compare the cpu between AMD opteron and INTEL xeon
I think opteron cheaper and faster than xeon
