Triangulating by cuting a quad into four triangles?

I have this simple 2x2 grid:



How could I 'triangulate' it so it becomes:



I know this is not how usually triangulation works, but in my case I need to cut quad into 4, not 2. How could I achieve this?

You can use Jeff Lait's VEX code here to split the faces using the face points and center:

You could do this with a Polyextrude followed by a fuse.

Wow, didn't think of using PolyExtrudr this way...

I guess the VEX solution is more general, but I always find that if I need to create any geometry, the VEX code would be unholy long
