Is there a way that I've missed in my search in both Houdini and this forum to configure the mouse buttons according to my preferences? This seems to be a daunting task for many 3D-applications of today, although some can be customized. As I switch between some of them, it's terribly annoying to have to switch my brain over to the dark side of the mouse. The way that I would prefer, is to have Rotate on the right mousebutton, Pan on the left, and absolutely Nothing on the middle button, as I have a scroll wheel there used for zooming. Also, where do people find all these 3-button mice? Here in Thailand they only sell two button mice with a scroll wheel (and some with more buttons placed elsewhere). The scroll wheel also functions as a button, but I find that very awkward to use. Especially for panning, as the heavy pressure required for the wheel makes moving rather jumpy.
Being able to configure the mouse buttons seems so extremely basic that I can't but help to think that I've missed some big button somewhere for doing this. Does anybody know of a workaround?
Cheers

Hi,
I agree Houdini is different from other packages but hopefully the following threads will help.
How to setup environment variables in Windows? [sidefx.com]
houdini.env on windows [sidefx.com]
OSX - HOUDINI_MMB_PAN [sidefx.com]
I'm not sure what OS you're using but the above should cover it.
Cheers!

Thanks a lot Stevenong, I think I get it now. I will try this when I get back to my workstation on monday.
Yes, Houdini is rather different from many other packages, but I like the layout of things and all the power that seems to be under the hood, so I've decided to really try and learn it. Now that I'm getting the mouse to work, the rest should be a walk in the park
