Thanks 4 this hint, the HDRI and other 3Buzz DVDs looks very nice.
But I just smiling again by reading the content Index of this DVD
…This HDRI shader was used….in “Norton Commando Transformer” video….
And in the DVD trainingvideo they don't have any real footage to compare the results, they render a Teapot on a table :?
Okay, you don't need to post “hey, look at this cinema movie or this”…. I have read many stories and spend many time to Houdini last month and see that 95% of the trainings video on all websites i found ends pre-visualization or has only full CG.
It is unusual for me, because for ALL other 3D App like Maya, 3DMax, etc. you find Tonnes of payed or free Videos, Lessons for Matchmoving and workflow to Render different CG Passes into Live footage.
We are a non-profit Film Voluntary association -just Apprentice- and the question at the moment i have: what is possible with Houdini as “One Man show” for VFX?
The cinema movies produced by prof. studios has hundred of special CG-Artist for this stuff, but we won't make 90 Minutes VFX but some VFX Scene should - 100% realistic.
So one concrete Question for example: LTreeThis is an example original shot:

and this the final shot:

Is Huodini's LTree+shading+mantra+composite able to create realistic Trees? I know the workflow in Lightwave or Modo + AfterEffects - you need 5-6 Hours for setup, and round about 25 minutes rendertime per frame and you learn this in one week.
Oh, i also found this very amazing video from one Apprentice Challenge 8)
