Hi, I was wondering what point cloud formats does Houdini accept in the pcopen VOP node? I have some point cloud data coming from cyclone as xyz, ptg, or pts. Houdini seems to be OK with all of them (no errors in the Vopsop node), but I do not seem to get any data out of pcfilter

thanks in advance!

As far as I know it's just .pc, if you can load your files in with a File SOP you can then write them out as .pc files or call them directly by using `opobj/geo1/file1` instead of the filename on your pcopen.

Thank you for the reply tjeeds!

It looks like someone found a way around this limitation:

Fortunately it appears that the .xyz format is similar to a .chan format to were you can just change the file extension and load it with a file chop . After that, I did what the link said to get it into a mesh. Pretty awesome trick

It would be nice if something as generic as the xyz format was supported natively as a point cloud though…!
