First question here, so apologies if this has been covered already. Trying to understand the difference between the old popnet vs the new popnet. If I create an old popnet and add a source manually it gives me some emitting types that I don't get on the new one (Points random, etc).

I was wondering why was there a need to create this new popnet node, and is there a good reason why I shouldn't use the old one instead.

The newpops live inside the same simulation framework (dopnet) as all the other simulations in Houdini. This is makes it much easier to have everything interact with everything else.

In isolation there isn't that much advantage to newpops (except perhaps speed) when compared to oldpops, but when you start to build larger setups the advantage is obvious.
