I'm doing a tutorial on CmiVFX and in one spot it calls for reversing out a previous Transform by referencing the channels of the first and inverting them.

The problem is, as soon as variables are used in the first Transform, the second one breaks and says it's a “bad data type for function or operation”

It doesn't work in the tutorial source files either, so I assume it's something that's changed with new versions of Houdini.

Does anyone know the way around this?

Thanks

Yes , It is different in H12 and H13 !
for example if you use $CEX in the first transform , then you can't “Paste Copied Relative Reference” it to another transform node !

in the H13 , you have to use "Paste Copied Expression" .

I'm so curios to know which tutorial you see !? :?

Thank you very much. Now I can get back to that tutorial (which was on creating Procedural roads) and my notes won't have big hole in them.

Thanks again.
