Hi all,

I'd just like to get some clarification on how the licensing works for houdini engine in maya when you send a file to render.

So for example we had 5 x master, 5 x Escape, 5 x Batch licenses for houdini, plus 100 mantra tokens. Let's say a few of those are being used by artists so are out of the pool.

If we have a maya file using an otl through engine and we send that to render what needs to be available?

Thanks,

Dave.

Just to clarify by “render” i just mean an image sequence, not caching out geo.

Assuming you're just rendering with a Maya renderer (i.e. not with Mantra, via Houdini Engine), then all you need is a license that can load Houdini Engine. This can be either an Engine license, an Escape license, or a Master license. The license is also searched in that order.

Note that we have replaced the Batch licenses with Engine licenses. If you contact your account representative, you can swap your Batch licenses for the Engine licenses. But at the moment, you can use a Batch license as an Engine license.
