I was wondering how to create a chrome surface with VOPs… I believe there is a chrome rman shader in houdini but I prefer to use mantra…

I was thinking something to do with a photon surface and reflective VOP….but I am not an expert by all means…

any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how fancy you want it but there's already a default chrome shader that comes with Houdini. From the top Tools menu, choose “Shader Palette”. In the dialog that comes up, click on Jump and choose $HFS/houdini/shop/palette. Then under Directories, choose metals. Click on chrome and then on the Create SHOP button. Now you have gvop_chrome SHOP that you can apply it to your objects/geometry.

I assume you've looked at the Chrome Environment VOP?

(BTW, it's VOP subnet, so dive inside it and see how it works)
