Hi all,
Just trying to use a Max camera in a Houdini scene. FBX worked for the basic camera node but not all settings come across so they don't match up.
Max has Lens and FOV, Any idea how to convert those for a Houdini camera's Focal Length and Aperture?

Looks like the Lens and Focal Length are the same things but not Aperture.
Any ideas how I could get this to work?

Thanks,
Pete

Hmm weird it doesnt match up with any of these other max measurements (Hoizontal, Vertical or Diagonal)
Eyeballing it with a max render in the background it turns out around 36.01

3dsmax has also aperture width, but it's (hidden) in the render dialog.
As for alembic there is a plugin from Exocortex, which was paid but is free by now afaik.

In reading this post, it prompted me to look into alembic, since I didn't know what that was.

My search brought up this site: http://www.alembic.io/index.html [alembic.io]

From that site it indicates it's an open source project between Lucas Film and Sony.

Hey that's cool! Thanks for the info.

I found a link to the exocortex plugins too

I'm gonna check this out for sure!
