Yep, that was pretty impressive.
Pixar is making a lot of stuff open source…big up to those guys.
Cool thing is SideFx are contributors to it, uncool thing is that Pixar only show it in Katana and Maya and Presto.
It seems to get the performance by streaming the data to the GPU.
SideFX will adopt it.

I did not realize that! would love to see USD support in Houdini! another better option than FBX!

Yep GPU's have a lot of cores so you can do parallel operations

Interestingly enough, new release of Metal form Apple is already supporting USD geometry
. It can have bigger impact, than just film industry.
