Hi,
first post here and very new to Houdini so forgive me if what I'm asking is covered in the manual - I searched but couldn't find an answer. So pointers to the info in the docs is also appreciated.
The question: I'm reading that, if I want to distribute a FLIP sim across multiple machines, I need to use ‘HBatch’. But: do I need to buy one full HoudiniFX license for each machine that I want to include in the simulation? Or does each HoudiniFX-license come with rights to simulate on more than one machine?
thanks,
Jasper

Houdini batch requires either the Houdini FX license or a Houdini Engine license for each machine. So, if you have a sim farm of 4 machines and one real workstation; you'd need a FX license for the workstation and a Engine for each of the sim farm machines.
Engine license information is at the bottom.

Note if you are using Indie, that page suggests there are free Engine licenses already available that should work for this.
Even if you are not running a single FLIP simulation across multiple machines, you probably still will want those machines to have the ability to run Houdini Batch so you can have sims run while you do other stuff on your main machine.
Engine licenses are also useful for off-line geometry generation (like generating caches, processing VDBs) and for the IFD generation stage of rendering.
