i just tried to install a version of houdini in windows 7 (brand new reformat) but it wont run due to not 'the program cant start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-L1-1-0.dll is missing….ive tried googling every possible scenario and downloaded every C++, vc_redist 64, x86 etc etc but nothings working…. i cant even get a splash page now
Do you have Service Pack 1 installed? (SP1 is required.) Is it 64-bit Windows 7? (Houdini will only run on 64-bit platforms.) Do you have an anti-virus program that might be over-aggressively deleting files? (I've seen Norton delete libpng13.dll for no reason with no warning and no backup.)
I've never encountered this specific issue, but other people might have an idea what's going on.
