this my first ay trying houdini :? , i make tutorials from the help and from the sideFx site , and i have a problem ;
when i create an operator by pressing tab in the view pane there is no problem , but when i try to create them in the network pane (like a POP network , for example) , nothing appears :cry:
i m pressing tab , select the operator , a square with black line appears , i click again and…nothing appears
am i missed something? i think i m doing something the wrong way but don t know wgy
if someone can help me please…

That actually sounds like a graphics driver problem, what card and drivers are you using?

…a quadro fx 500 .. the drivers are the 84.26 version..

If you're on WinXP, I don't trust the 8X.XX nVidia drivers. Try using the 77.56 drivers.

That's my experience also, go with 77.56

What version of Houdini are you using?

the last apprentice version 8.0474

Try finding your houdini8.0 directory and renaming it something different. Do this without Houdini running of course.

not working… :?
i messed to say that when i launch houdini i have “ houdini.exe load failed. no such file or directory”
all is working but not the clicking to ad operator in the network pane…

I wonder if that error is something to do with missing the home directory?
Do you have administrator privileges on the machine?

:cry: don t know what to , i reisntalled windows on my machine ,install the 77.56 drivers , try to install houdini and at the end of the instalation i have the message:

As long as you can see the tiles in the network view if the operator is added in the viewport, then I wouldn't necessarily blame the graphics driver.

Two things that come immediately to mind, and I apologize if they're obvious:
1. Make sure that you're not clicking on another tile when clicking to place the tile.
2. Make sure that you're not trying to place the new operator into a locked digital asset.

Some other things to try:
Hit ‘t’ in the network editor to put it into list mode, and now try adding new nodes. This should skip the tile placement step.

Alternatively, in Settings | Main Preferences | Worksheet, Tiles and Trees, toggle on “Place New Tiles Immediately”. This setting does not appear to work if you bring up the operator menu using the TAB key, but it works if you bring up the menu by using MMB or RMB on a tile output or input.

I had the same font error thing during the setup, and somehow it was because I used getRight for download, when I downloaded the setup file with native firefox dwnld manager everything was ok. Clean install and no problems… Why, I don't know…
