Hey there
I am trying to find a way to have my animated little ship get hit and then on impact get fractured, I have tried a few different ways from tutorials but they were for static objects so when it was hit the fractures would continue to move with the object like sliding on thin air, other times it would just break apart without getting hit, I have not found a way for the sphere to interact with the ship either.

Very much a beginner of this program but I love it, thank you.

I'm trying to understand what you're trying to do. Without the ship geometry in the file it's a bit difficult to determine. You basically want the ball to strike the ship, the ship fractures, the ball fractures as they interact? Is that basically correct?

You could use a voronoi fracture configure object (quite a long word ) +
keyframe the ‘Enable Fracturing’ value when you want the fracture to occur, works quite well,
tried it with a ‘melon’ recently + did a little screencast of it, maybe you´ll find it useful:

Yep that's it, sorry for the late reply. Here's the ship.
