I'm animating a geometry at obj level, and for some reason i ignore sometimes my rotation animation curves behave weird. I can't seem to manually change the slope to something of my liking… as soon as i touch the handle it jumps to some short sharp handle (see attached pics). I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why for an hour. Nothing does it. Creating new keyframes won't fix it, tried to toggle all slope options i could find in there, still the same issue. Any tips more than welcome.
Thanks in advance,
A.
Weird animation curve handles behaviour?

So selecting “slope mode to linear seems to have fixed that”… but now the next issue is after doing so… i can not select my keyframes as a group in the animation editor anymore (????). The box selection does not appear, the keyframes do not highlight, nothing. Only one keyframe at a time… What a s#it show :$ …Any idea? …Should i format my C: drive?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hey Adriano,
I can understand your frustration. The animation editor is not the star of the Houdini show. It suffers from strange bugs for me, too. Restarting Houdini solves it in most cases. Maybe you have activated the normalized display of curves? It is a feature that is great for animation. But in Houdini, the handling of slopes gets unusable when it's on. I and others have signed RFE for it. I´m looking forward to a new version of the animation editor.
Cheers

Some serious issues with the animation curves handles on “null” objects with parents especially. Impossible to work with that. It's absolutely awful :$
Is there any reason i do not know about for this strange behaviour? I mean… i can't even touch the handle, it snaps right back to the base of the keyframe, it's making my work impossible.
Cheers,

O
Sorry, i had no time to clean up a file and post it. But really just work for a moment with nulls, just parent a few nulls to each other, and animate the top parent ones and i'm sure that within minutes you'll understand what i mean. It's not just about handles jumping out of place when dragging them, it's also just converting slopes to linear mode and not being able to even select those keyframes afterward. I'm making a list of weird stuff going on with nulls's animation curves and it's getting weirder and weirder. The only way tyo get fine tunning on handles and keys is to use the value fields under neath the animation editor, but since in some cases the keys are not selectable anymore (the box selection just won't work) it just means having to reanimate everytime. They seem locked… yet they aren't… i mean, a total poopshow.
I'm having a hard time imagining that this would be due to my set up. Sure i have two displays and using a graphic tablet, but this also occured on a single display and mouse, so i'm not sure. I'll post the probelamtic files once done with the project(s), this happened in pretty much every file i had to deal with objects parented to nulls, it's a nightmare, absolutely atrocious experience, and i weigh my words fairly and accurately here :$
Cheers,
A.
