material x & karma displacement subdivision

I couldn't find a setting for subdivison/auto bump generation at render time for displacement.

Is this a current limitation of material x or karma (xpu)?

I don't know about auto bump generation, but you can globally set the displacement quality in the Karma LOP under Render > Geometry and Shading > Dicing > Dicing Quality, or per primitive using the Render Geometry Settings LOP.
