thanks guys but i've already tried those 2 resources

odforce talks about setting it up for VS2003 (which has a different project settings layout compared to VS2005)

but i've just noticed the compiling section in the HDK 10.0 docs - talks about using makefiles

if i can figure out how to call make files using VS2005 (i normally use Eclipse so i am not used to this) then i should be good to go!

now trying to get VS to debug/run it
there's no clear instructions for setting this up anywhere!
