for DOP forces like in your screenshot, use second input of with Mask Field DOP which has SOP Scalar Field DOP plugged in, to mask it off by some volume form SOPs for example

or for POP forces in DOPs you can just use any point attribute present on the geo using VEXpressions

Do you mean something like this? I was trying it before but I can't make it work and the visualization doesn't seem to do much :/

How do I paint the strength of an effect on my mesh? I want the gravity, wind, etc to only affect the roots.
