TOTAL DURATION: 1h 35m 19s

Create a complete Houdini project by modeling, animating, lighting, and rendering a soccer ball (or football, depending on where you live). Along the way, build a classic bouncing ball animation using the principles of squash and stretch, apply materials and textures, add lights and cameras, and render the finished sequence.

This project is designed to introduce you to the core parts of Houdini through a fun, hands-on exercise. As you build the shot from start to finish, you’ll become familiar with the interface, explore the tools you’ll use most often, and learn how Houdini’s node-based workflow fits together.

You’ll work interactively in the Scene View, organize your project in the Network View, create materials and textures in the Solaris Stage, animate your bouncing ball with APEX Scene Animate, and render the final result using Houdini’s Karma XPU renderer.

This lesson includes a step-by-step PDF which you can use to follow along the lesson supported by video tutorials.

Thanks for the great educational material!
In the section on Rigging the soccerball, I created a new Rig Tree pane as instructed but can't drag squash_ctrl onto the root (or move anything in the hierarchy for that matter). Not clear from google search if I should simply be able to drag (or SHIFT Drag) to move item - but not working.
