Windforce won't change direction Oct. 18, 2018, 8:21 p.m.

I'm trying to have a basic flag waving sim. The flag is reacting to the wind, but I can't get it to flow in the correct direction. No matter whether I give it a positive or negative value, I still get the flag flapping to the left side of the screen (I need it to go to the right). The hip file is attached. Any thoughts?

Edit: I'm not sure why the wind wasn't causing the cloth to react. I did find a solution by modifying the properties on the actual cloth itself. The technique is illustrated here in case anyone else is having a similar issue: https://vimeo.com/214730253 [vimeo.com]

Edit: I found the answer to the wind force. From the documentation, “Do not use the Wind Force or the Fan Force DOPs with Cloth. These DOP forces do not currently provide the correct force information that the Cloth Solver requires.” If you found this through an internet search, reference the above vimeo link or the offical documentation here: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/cloth/flag.html [www.sidefx.com] for a more in depth solution.

Segmentation fault error when creating a flipbook March 13, 2018, 1:21 p.m.

I'm trying to test a fluid sim and can't get a flipbook preview generated. When I try to create a flipbook, I get a segmentation fault error and mplay crashes. It seems the crash occurs when I have a large number of particles on screen. I was able to animate geometry and create a preview just fine. I was able to create a preview of high viscous fluid with fewer particles just fine (so little movement). The crash seems to happen with a large number of rapidly moving particles.

I've installed the latest graphics driver and updated to the latest version of Houdini. I'm still experiencing the mplay crash. Houdini itself runs fine and I have no problem running the software. It is only mplay that seems to crash. Anyway to fix this or at least get a workaround?

My specs are:
Windows 10 64 bit (Latest update)
32 GB Ram
i7-6700k CPU
2 GTX 980 Ti's (391.01 Driver)

Combining constraints for packed RBDs? May 15, 2017, 9:59 p.m.

My ultimate goal is break down a wall with a wrecking ball. When I do that, the entire wall gets lifted up and knocked over. Users suggest using a pin constraint. I also want to have the wall glued so- how do you use multiple constraints simultaneously for packed objects? I found a tutorial on youtube and managed to get a glue constraint and a pin constraint working separately, but they are just refusing to work together.

Link to said tutorial series:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWN3gFzwvxQ [www.youtube.com]

In the attached .hip file, I'm trying to drop the box object and have it bend through a pin constraint up until around frame 15. Here I want it to switch to a glue constraint so it will retain its shape or break. The pin constraint stays in place and it keeps bouncing back.
