This probably means that this pseudo-MIDI port isn't recognized by Windows. Houdini gets the list of MIDI sources from the Windows media library. Perhaps the application isn't advertising the port there.

Some sound drivers allow you to configure a joystick port as a MIDI port, but as I imagine that won't work very well with the joystick, I'm not sure what to suggest.

I found this post, and i try to make windows reconize my midi device and “restart Houdini”, then it work!!

i show my midi device on list

Midi source : missing some option Oct. 22, 2012, 10:17 a.m.

Dear all

I want to try to use Midi keyboard & midi controller to real time control chops, in help file, it show in CHOP > Midi In CHOP > Midi Source > “hardware port/internal/MIDI file.”

But, the things is, “hardware port/internal” was missing, in the option only have “MIDI file” to choose.

do anyone know how to control chops by midi devices in real time?
