Alex is an award-winning director and VFX supervisor who recently moved to Portland to help build a filmmaking community in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. A USC MFA graduate in Film Production with a background in dance and film studies, Alex founded Monstro Labs to bridge the gap between high-end digital craft and grounded human stories.
Much of his work focuses on the intersection of personal narratives, surreal worldbuilding, and creature design. A member of the local artist community “The Haven” and founder of the Portland Houdini User Group, he spends much of his time educating upcoming filmmakers and VFX artists, fostering a community where technical mastery and imaginative storytelling thrive together. less

Anyone know if the background plate node in solaris will finally be compatible with xpu? Shadows have been my biggest struggle with karma up to this point.

Hey guys,
I'm still farily new to Houdini.
I'm trying to wrap my head around how I would accomplish a large cluster of balloons that are attached to strings which all meet at a single point. They would have a wind force and would bounce around and interact with one another.
I've found a few forum conversations about similar setups online, but nothing that has really helped me understand a strategy.
I've included a mockup image to show what end result I'm going for.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
