SoftQuadro: Yes or no...? Aug. 29, 2003, 2:25 a.m.

Ok! Problem solved! ( I guess…)

My GF4 card is made by MSI and previously I was using drivers from nvidia's site. OpenGL was working fine in 3ds max but OS (W2K) was a little bit unstable and there were these issues with Houdini. I did tried Softquadro as well but my monitor kept blinking when display properties were adjusted in Control Panel. I unistalled it and downloaded fresh drivers, this time from MSI's site. Now my system is stable (crosses fingers…) and Houdini runs very smoothly (crosses toes…) but when I'm using OpenGL in max, textures won't show in viewport (bangs head to wall…). Well, you can't have it all, I guess. Luckily there are three different display driver modes in max so that's not really a problem.

Anyway, thanks for the replys guys!

Thanks for the reply!

Ok I'll try it as soon as get home. I also found couple of threads from 3dbuzz.com about setting some Windows system variables to fix OpenGL issues with geforce cards. I'll try them also and let's see what happens.

Cheers, Sami

Hi!

I'm about start learning Houdini but I've noticed that there are some viewport display issues that I like to get rid of. Slight delay and flashing in menus, active viewport is not indicated by yellow rectangle etc.

I have GForce 4 TI-4200 128MB and I was wondering if “Softquadroing” it would do any better?
