Part 1:  FEM Simulations Driven by Kine FX Rigged Animations

Part 2:  Embedded FEM Layers like Bones & Muscles

*Use Motion capture to animate the Plant Stem!*

Part 1

I'm going to build on the Kine FX techniques and take the scenes a little further by using the Kine FX Animations to drive some FEM simulations. I'll demonstrate how to use FEM region constraints to create a very simple puppet character. The Kine FX rig will be used to animate the mouth motions and my simple hand waving motion capture is used to drive the stem animation of my Plant Eater character.

Part 2

This is a simple demonstration of embedded FEM solids, which looks like bones and muscles to me. Embedding FEM solids inside each other uses FEM's Region Constraints inside the dopnet simulation.

Transitioning from a coder to a 3D artist. Houdini was the best option for me after I explored a different number of 3D software applications. I love the procedural workflow in Houdini and how easily accessible the attributes of the geometry are available to the user. This makes it a lot easier to focus on creating a good render and less time wasted on trying to figure out how to access certain geometry points or edges.
