Flow Ripple
Motion Graphics

This project demonstrates how to use Houdini 21’s new 2D Flow Solver inside Copernicus to drive particle-based motion across a surface. The setup walks through a few key steps: first, cleaning up and de-intersecting the particle source with Vellum before motion is applied; then using Flow-generated velocity fields to push particles across the surface in a natural, fluid-like way.

The result is a swimming particle effect that showcases how image-based simulations can be combined with particle systems for rich, organic motion.

Also, the project also includes a Solaris/Karma scene to quickly preview and render the effect.

This example requires a SideFX Labs installation.
