Hi all,

I am working on a shot similar to this referece

http://www.gettyimages.in/detail/video/view-of-gondolier-rowing-gondola-on-canal-venice-stock-video-footage/103202656 [gettyimages.in]

I am using a flip tank with a litte depth (0.5 meters) and boat as collison geomerty.

I am using FLIP because the wake needs to be realistic as possible.

so far the problems are:

I am not getting detailes in the wake like the reference ( with the more number of particles I am getting better details though)

Its creating little wake in the front and the wake behing the boat is very big(the boat is creating a vacuum in the water and its causing the
wake to grow bigger over time.

Did any anybody came accross this kind of issue before ?? Any suggestions, help and Ideas much appriciated.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm… maybe if you use a more realistic reference… that stuff looks too CG-ish… and dated!

Just kidding…

I think I would do that type of calm wake with a ripple-solver, some post-sim SOP magic, height maps and displacement.

yep,
the ripple solver is faster and more controlable for this kind of sim.
You can dive inside the ripple solver to add some noise to the propagation speed to obtain unlinear wakes.
