Hello,

I have a 100 m square flip tank created with the houdini 12.5 new ocean tool.
In my flipsolver under the volume motion tab I set it like this :
Smoothing : 0.3
Surface extrapolation :0.3
Volume Fraction Method : Voxel Area.
The volume velocity is taken by a “SourceVolume” from the fields created by the “OceanEvaluate” Node.
I increased the gravity too.
The result is like this :

the whitewater is added but you can see the global behavior of the particles.

I want more splashes !!!! and particles more “independent” of each other.

Can I decrease again the Smoothing and Surface extrapolation param ? Is there a risk that the solver become unstable?
Even if my FLIP sims look smoothy, Can I added setup the whitewater to be more splashy anyway ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

First i think you need more resolution in flip simulation,
you can try to change smooting to 0.125 or maybe lower insted of 0.3,
but with more resolution you will get more splash look

i did similar test https://vimeo.com/65490463 [vimeo.com]

wow I didn't watch your video ! it's great !!!
Are the big splashes coming from the whitewater solver?
how do you manage the shading of the foam part ? there is some specular and diffuse … I don't understand how you did it since there is only point …
Maybe can you share a shading example ?

thanks !

did you use only one whitewater solver ?
