hi, im using houdini 13 + mantra pbr and wondering whether there is a way to adjust ray samples per material? to be specific, i got a noise problem when refracting light sources. i found a refraction quality parameter in mantra surface shader which should do the job, but seems to do nothing (possibly a bug? tested out on a simple scene with a sphere and an area light). In houdini 14 this parameter is not there anymore if im not mistaken. Oversampling an entire image just for one material is an overkill. Any thoughts? I suppose there is a way how to do this.

Hi,

that Refraction Quality is leftover from the past.

You can adjust Min/Max Ray Samples per object or per material.
Just add these properties directly to the object or to the material via Properties shader.

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply! I was looking for these parameters before but they were really well hidden However this works fine for H14, in H13 it just doesnt do anything. So its a bug I suppose. Thanks for the help anyway!
