Houdini installer occasionally hangs during installation on Mac Os (seems all recent versions of Mac Os). This results in the machine being unable to shutdown or restart normally since the installer is still running. This behavior appears to be associated with the installer trying to startup a web browser to dispaly the hqueue help, which is inappropriate install program behavior (if someone wants to look at hqueue documentation it should be done at user discretion and not forced upon the user during the installation process since this install program behavior creates a needless install time execution dependency). The questions I have are:
1) When does hqueue need to be installed after it has been installed once? Specifically, does it need to be installed with any new daily release of Houdini?
2) Is it possible to suppress the installation behavior where a a browser is launched to show the hqueue documentation?
3) What is the process name of the houdini installer so that when it hangs, it might be possible to terminate it manually?
Bug report submitted to SESI.
