Hello out there.

I downloaded the Aprentice Version.. 4 days ago. Worked fine till today. now it Houdini Simply will not open. It goes througth the checking for server but doesn't find one. Then the installer asks me to install the licence server again.. that is successful, then the installer checks for the lic over the net again unsucessful… and then back it starts over again.
I have uninstalled houdini and restated. Now I will try to reset my modem.. Ugg..

Any suggestions?

Can you please post the diagnostic information? Go to Start -> Programs -> Side Effects Software -> Houdini 5.5.xxx -> Houdini License Administrator

In the License Administrator, please go to View -> Diagnostic Information…, save the information & then post it here.

Please correct the date & then try running Houdini. If it still does not run, please start the License Administrator then Right-Click on the license string & select “Return License”. Please return all licenses you have then quit the License Administrator.

Now, start Houdini & you should be prompted to install Apprentice Licenses.

Another way after correctly fixing your date/time is to reboot your computer. If you do this, then you don't have to return your licenses.

Another thought- this happened to me recently with the install on my laptop After several tries I found my NIC card came loose/Once I reseated it correctly Houdini started up fine. I.E. check your network connections.

Thanks for the enlightening me. I told the dog to stop changing the date.
