Hi all,
I want to get into 3D modeling, and Houdini Apprentice sounds like a great choice, but in the future, if my company were to buy an FX license for me, would I lose everything I did? Or could I still open the files and render them in HD without the watermark? I want to know before I put too much time into it.

I'm not an expert on the sales & licensing side of stuff, so I don't have full details, but I do know that upon buying a license, SideFX Support can do a one-time conversion of everything you've made that's specific to Apprentice (hipnc, hdanc, and picnc) to whichever file format corresponds with license type you buy, (i.e. hiplc, hdalc, and piclc for Houdini Indie, and hip, hda, and pic for Houdini Core and FX). Make sure you send them everything that you might need converted. Then, you can continue with the converted files. Hopefully that's the info you were looking for!
