Copying geometry via VEX

So it's possible to copy geometry via VEX as demonstrated in this post

But what if you also need to copy the geometry attributes, shaders etc as well? Is this also doable via VEX?
Checking documentation I think I would need to use addvertexattrib but can't find a working example http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/vex/functions/addvertexattrib.html [www.sidefx.com]

There's so many better ways to do this, why try it in VEX?
