Hello, I am a beginner in Houdini.

With that being said, I need major help.

I want to have an object disintegrate onto an animated geometry.

Here's what I have completed-

My object is a grenade and I already have it setup to disintegrate.

Please see the following images for visual aid:

My animated geometry is the hand and I have imported this as an alembic animation.

My issue is the following:

I have these two geometries that need to interact with one another BUT I have no idea as to how to get the disintegration to collide with the alembic animation??

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

Hi,

If you want your particle simulation to interact with the hand, add a staticobject in your popnet and merge it after your popsolver. In the staticobject, set the path of your hand geo, and check “Use Deforming Geometry” and “Use object transform”.

By the way, is the grenade itself interacting with the hand animation ?
If not, you can achieve it by doing a RBD sim of your grenade with your hand as collision as well.
Then you can use this new grenade animation in your popnet (and of course, set the hand as collider again).

I hope that helped. Have a good day!

Thank you!

The particles simulation finally interacts with my hand object.

Now, when I'm attempting to have the grenade interact with my hand animation, a couple of things are happening.

And I don't quite understand how to go about fixing it.

My first issue is that the hand seems to penetrate the grenade. See below for visual aid.

The second issue is that my particle simulation has stopped working with this new RBD grenade.

I don't seem to understand why the particle simulation won't work with this new grenade.

Any ideas for this?
