I'm trying to apply texture material to the imported object. I could render it using Mantra but I still can't render with Octane.
It keeps displaying pink.
I found another FORUM and someone seems to show the answer but I can't understand
Could anyone help me understand what exactly he suggests??
I also attached what I've done
Thanks in advance.

Probably it has a shop_materialpath primitive attribute that is overriding any other material settings. You need to delete this attribute because it takes precedence over the OBJ level material.

From the screenshots it doesn't look like you have applied an octane material. Octane does not use mantra materials.

Thanks for replying!
1.Could you show me the "shop" window?
2.Does the IPR show the material without attaching "attribcreate" node and disabling overriding by the "shop_materialpath primitive attribute"?
3.Am I writing correct path in attribcreate window as the img below shows?

too novice to be confused just by attaching the texture to the obj..:/ sorry for the basic question!

My /shop context contains only an octane render target node created automatically by the shelf tool. I placed the materials in /mat.

I am not sure why you want to use attribcreate nodes. I have assigned the material in sops with a material node. You could instead apply it in the render properties at the object level.

You also do not appear have an actual material in your octane vopnet. (glossy, metal, specular, universal etc.) Without one you will get purple.

If you want to apply file textures then you will need octane texture nodes connected to the channels you want to affect in the material, and you will need to create uvs or projections to place the textures.

You may want to watch some different tutorials:

I didn't see anyone post the easiest solution (apologies if I just missed it in this thread), but all that had to be done here is using something like a Clean node or an Attribute Delete node to remove the "shop_materialpath" attribute. From there one should be able to continue texturing like normal with Octane.
