Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how to take a piece of geometry out of an fbx and have it not connected to the hierarchy. I imported some assets from UE4 into Houdini. So I have an aircraft and a building. The aircraft is animated. I want to take a piece of the aircraft out of the hierarchy and have it be on its own.

If I disconnect the piece it moves to the 0,0,0 of the scene. Plus it still lives inside the FBX hierarchy. Is there a way of disconnecting the node, keeping the animation and having it outside of the fbx hierarchy?

Thanks!
As always thank you!

You can use an attribute or Group to mask the piece, then Blast everything that isn't the piece. If your object is animated via a rig then you will probably have to keep the original imported network, unless you want to export and reimport as a .bgeo sequence. Object Merge the isolated piece into another Geometry network and you should get what you need.
