Sublayering over crowd agents

Hi.

I have scene containing 100+ ships, that are done as particle simulation, in Solaris instanced over ships point cache.

Then, we have sails simulation, on all ships, exported as usd with same exact structure. Just parts of the ships that are modified by sail sim (ropes and sails).

In Light scene, we can't sublayer sails usd over animation usd, since animation usd is point instancer.
Ok, so changed it to be instanceable refernce, again, doesn't work.

So, my question does anyone have idea how to manage that while not flattening everything? Should we maybe divide ships in parts and point instance some parts, and just copy others so we can sublayer simulation on top of these parts.
