Grow Branch Curves Issue

Hi,

I'm trying to grow curves hierarchically and am having an issue. I have an attribute that grows along the curve, and then I'm scaling the prims based on the attribute value. However, it seems the last point in the curve is not growing correctly and creates a line. It has something to do with my @grad and @u attributes not working correctly.
File and image showing issue attached.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for the .hip
I need the @foo attribute to stay intact though. That is what I want to drive the growth of the lines.
