How do I merge my recipes from houdini 21? [solved]

Hello,

When I started using houdini 22, I forgot to bring my recipe hda file in from houdini 21. I have already made a whole bunch of recipes for houdini 22. If I copy my recipe file from houdini 21 it will overwrite my current file and I will lose all the recipes I made for 22. How do I copy my recipes from houdini 21 while keeping my current ones? Is it possible to have multiple files like "recipes_h21.hda". I initially expected each recipe to be its own file and not all my recipes are stored in one hda file. I also noticed that I could use the hda installer to point to a recipe hda file. What happens if I do that? Does the recipe just install as an hda or does that import them as recipes that will get saved to my recipe.hda file?

edit: I just tried installing a recipes.hda using the hda installer, it just imports them as hdas.
edit 2: I guess in a broader sense this question could be "how do I share recipes" because if I gave someone a recipe hda file how would they merge it with their existing file?

Thanks

As far as I know, you can treat the recipes file as a normal HDA library. So you can use Asset Manager > Copy... to make a copy of any recipe in a different file. In short: load the old recipe library into your current session with File > Import > Houdini Digital Asset... (Install Library To: Current HIP File Only); then, in the Asset Manager, find an old recipe, RMB > Copy..., and set Save To Library to the current recipe library. After doing this with your recipes, create a New file (which clears the earlier import) or restart Houdini to verify that they work from the current library. Of course, before doing anything, make sure to backup your recipe files.

Alternatively, you can rename the old recipes file and place it alongside the current one, but be mindful of duplicate HDAs. If there are any, the Asset Manager will mark them with a different color.
