Hi,

I have installed 9.1 Build 124 on a Toshiba Laptop running Ubuntu 7.04.

The installed graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000.

I know it's a very low end machine but it's either that or a PowerBook G4.

I have set HOUDINI_OGL_SOFTWARE=1 to get Houdini running.

I noticed that as Houdini is running, I see the following on my console

Any suggestion?

I am mainly learning about the SDK and possibly can run Houdini in console mode to test output the plugins I write. But there will be occasion where the plug-ins are more visual and I need the interactive display.

8<——8<——8<——8<——8<——8<——8<——8<——
X11 Error (155): GLXBadContext
x11_ErrorHandler(_XDisplay*, XErrorEvent*) (X11_GeneratorThread.C:0)
_XError (??:0)
_XReply (??:0)
glXMakeCurrent (??:0)
RE_XServer::GLMakeCurrent(unsigned long, void*) (??:0)

HOUDINI_OGL_SOFTWARE is only available on Windows.

I did not know that. Perhaps the hconfig help should reflect this?

Cheers,

Switching to KDE solves the problem of the application hanging on exit.

Gnome does not play well with Houdini.

Apparently with other 3D applications too e.g. Maya. so much so that it was discuss on the Autodesk forum.
