Hi , i am new to houdini and i need help (>.<)!
I ported over from Maya and currently i am trying to create a root growing underground kinda of effects.

I have 2 issues with it now.

The roots actually goes over from asphalt then to soil. I used a magnet with a metaball attach to my root curve( a L - system ).

Then i seperated the affected areas and the non-affect area with a color map. using a attribute promote i made the color map with no feather kinda stuff ( sorry.. i dont know the term).

I wanted to create a initial crack then further push it upwards.
so i used another magnet , subdivide and added some noise and push it further back abit then translate it upwards more.

My problem now is.
The attribute promote is poping between affected and non-affect area ….
causing the sub-divide to pop between them.
i think this will also cause a Uv texturing problem later on i think..
and
The cracks is very even, its suppose to be an asphalt so the cracks should be so straight.. i am not sure i should change my curve or is there another sop i should use. Currently i only have mountain and divde as my noise.

Right now i am not sure if i am heading the right direction
please guide me >.<
Thanks ( sorry did i post in the wrong forum… new here as well )

Oh btw i attached my file. If you want you can take a look.
