Hi,
Im a Maya user switching to Houdini. Im trying to model a blender for some fluid dynamics, but i wish to snap some points in a single axis to another point. In Maya you can hold ‘v’ and middle click on the point with the axis selected on the manipulator.

How can i do this in houdini?

Thanks

-under your geometry in SOP space, place an Edit SOP
-with the Edit SOP highlighed in the network view:
-hit ENTER in the viewport to activate the Edit SOP
-hit 2 to enter point mode
-hit v to enter point snap mode

-hit v again to leave point snap mode
-hit ESC to back out of the Edit SOP

Good luck!

Actually he is referring that in maya if You click on one of the manipulator axes it turns yellow, and movement will be constrained only to that axis.
So if You select bunch of points tis way they will not snap together in sing point rather they will be constrained to move only on a single axis.

This is VERY useful, imagine that you have to even out an irregular curve and this way with one move You can snap them to a grid line or to a point or to an edge whatever.

Hope some day it will find it's way into Houdini too.

-select some points
-in the parameters of the Edit Sop set desired axis Scale to 0

-all points will now be in a row
-move or snap that row of points to whereever you want
